The Beblum Oeko-Tex Mattress is tested and proven that it does not contain harmful substances. It is highly breathable and washable. Most importantly, it is Formaldehyde-free. Formaldehyde is commonly found in foam (mattresses) as a by-product of chemical reactions and adhesives while making it fire retardant. Besides the original Beblum Oeko-tex mattress that comes with a premium cotton mattress cover, there is yet another choice open for parents going green with their purchases, which is the Tencel Oekot-tex Mattress!
What’s the difference?
While the two mattresses are made of the same oeko-tex standard fibers, the Tencel version comes with a waterproof mattress cover that is made of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are made from sustainably sourced wood pulps, and they have gained a commendable reputation for their great environmentally responsible characteristics, from the botanic origin to the low environmental impact and high resource efficiency during production, and then the eventual biodegradability on disposal. Yes, you are right, the TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, which means they can fully revert back to nature just as how they come from nature! As a consumer, you have the assurance that your choice of purchase is not harming the environment.
Also, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are naturally soft to the touch and offer long-lasting comfort. They provide high breathability that support the body’s natural thermal regulation. The smooth surface of the TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers absorbs moisture more efficiently than cotton, and can keep your baby’s skin cool and dry throughout the day and night.
Our Tencel mattress cover is coated with a layer of waterproof coating on the underneath that prevents water/stains from seeping through the cover and dirtying the mattress itself, which is often a headache for parents as mattress can be hard to wash and dry due to the big size.
